Organize Your Apartment

Usually living in an apartment means having limited space, and limited storage. It can be easy for it to get overcrowded and messy with all the stuff you move around with. It can take some creativity and a willingness to get rid of things to prevent it from becoming an overwhelming mess. You don't have to get rid of everything to accommodate your living arrangements, you just have to figure out how to get organized and utilize your space the best.

The hardest part about getting organized in an apartment is going through your stuff and weeding out the junk. It may not be the most pleasant task, but it is necessary if you want more space and less clutter. Get rid of all the stuff you don't need anymore. Go through your closet and throw out or give away old clothes that you never wear anymore. Do the same with shoes, they take up a lot of extra space. Go through paperwork and keepsakes. Getting creative with your living space means finding a balance between aesthetics and storage. If you're apartment is especially small it can be hard no matter what to find space for everything. Shop around for nice pieces of furniture that will double as storage. Think of anyplace you can hide extra bins and drawers. Buying bins that will fit under your bed is a great storage place and it's easily hidden. Figure out how to utilize your closet as best you can. Shop around for hanging shelves and racks, that will hold shoes and clothing. A small set of drawers can be tucked into the back of many closets and free up space out in the room. Consider hanging mugs or pots and pans from a small rack on the wall rather than taking up space in your cabinets. Stores abound with ideas and items that will help you sort and store your stuff more easily.

Having a specific place for everything will help keep your apartment clean and help you keep track of how much space you have. Now you just have to motivate yourself to keep your organization going.
